Comish. Review: jOrtega

This was a piece of work done for me by jOrtega. I stumbled across his page rather by accident and his style caught my eye.

I wanted a picture kind of like the 88mph covers from a few years ago, with Egon protecting Janine. This was a $60 digital commission, and I think I got my money's worth, but there were one or two things I didn't care for.

First, the art took about 3 months to complete. Much later than my comfort zone. After 45 days Paypal won't help you with a claim. Still, his level of communication, including his progress were frequent (about every 3 weeks), so I wasn't freaking out like others.

The second bit is the level of detail wasn't the same as the artwork I referenced. I'd originally asked for something along the lines of these two (with respect to quality):

and call me crazy, but I think this one looks a bit blurry.

Perhaps I just had high expecations after waiting 3 months, but can you blame me?

That's the thing about being very late with a piece of art. Doesn't matter how good it is, there's always a lingering memory / bad taste that doesn't go away. At least with me.
